Friday practice was awesome. We were running good lap times. The bikes were running great and the track was awesome.

Saturday started off with practice in the morning. We were working on shaving off time lap after lap. Practice ended and I felt good. The first race of the weekend for me was the CCS 125 GP. I got an ok start and was running 3rd. I started to real 2nd in but ran out of time. I was happy with 3rd. Saturday afternoon we went into qualifying. They changed the schedule to combine moto3 and 250GP so I had 3, 12 minute sections back to back to back. In 12 minutes we were only going to get about 4 laps. There were some red flags in the sections that held us up. I did not qualify very well. I am the type of rider that needs a good lap to get in my groove. Basically I ride better when I am having fun. So that is what I was going to do on race day.

Sunday started off with one section of practice. I rode practice #3 and #4. In the first section I rode the RS 125. On the 4th lap the bike locked up. The piston had cracked from the wrist pin up over the top. My dad said it was his fault. He just tried to run it too long. I rode the Moriwaki MD 250H in the next practice. It went great. I would have to run the Moriwaki in all the classes today. The first race of Sunday was the CCS 125GP race. I got a great start and got the holeshot. I ran up front for the first lap. From there it was pass after pass. In the final corner the other rider got a better drive and I ended up second. Next up was the USGPRU 125GP I was gridded in the back. I got a great start and passed about 6 riders. I was running about 6th or 7th and the chain broke. I found myself on the crash truck again getting a ride back to the pit. My dad put a new chain on and I prepped for the next race. Moto 3 was the next race. I got a ok start. Road a little tight and ended up 5th. The last race of the weekend for me was the MD 250H race. I just went out road loose and had fun. I ended the day with a 4th in that class.

The weekend went great. We had some problems with the bikes, but overall an awesome weekend !

We ran on the east track configuration all weekend , Friday was a track day which was good for us since we have not ran on this configuration since last year.

Since there were only three Moriwaki’s , their was no pay out for the MD250H class, so we all decided to run them in the Moto 3 class which their would be a contingency from American Honda.

Andre qualified third , it was a great race between three riders which traded positions many times for the first spot , Andre won by .002 of a second , it came down to a drag race at the end. Gerry Signorelli finished second then Lex Hartl filling out the third spot, very close race.

Andre’s fastest lap was 1:44.575 , fastest lap was turned by Gerry Signorelli of a 1:44328.

On Sunday we had the qualifier and race for the 125GP class, Andre qualified on pole which was a first for him.

This turned out to be another great race between Andre, Lex and Gerry , they were very close together until about lap three , then Gerry dropped back a little , Lex and Andre traded positions twice , then Andre was able to lead Lex for the last seven laps to the end, but it was still very close , Andre only won by 0.155 of a second, He turned the fastest lap of the day on a 125 of a 1:42831.

Hallett was a tough weekend for Austin as usual. This track always eats motorcycles! Practice was good with good lap times and no crashes. In the Formula 4 race Austin crashed on lap 2 and broke his break lever so he was out. This puts him back in the points so he’ll really have to put his head down. In the Formula 5 race he finished 4th after having some shifting issues from switching back and forth from standard to GP. In the Superstock E race he finished 8th after running off the track several times. In the three hour mini endurance his team Redline Roadracing finished 3rd overall with Austin and team mate Joey Howells splitting the riding duties. Tough weekend for the sprints but the 3rd in the endurance helped to raise the spirits!

While at WERA’s last race at Barber during some off time from the track Next Moto Champion Rider Brad Boucher toured the Barber Motorsports Park Museum.

” I was blown away with all of the different types of motorcycles held in one building. I came to find out that one man owned almost all of the motorcycles there and there were over a thousand! They dated back from 1900’s to today. I even saw Collin Edwards old bike he used to race and it still had a WERA sticker on it. It was also pretty cool to see the first Honda NSR50 because I used to ride one of those. My favorite part of the museum was the way the motorcycle’s were stacked on top of eachother in one part of the museum, it was like they were in a hotwheels case. I would definatly recommend visiting this amazing museum to anyone that can make the trip to Barber. I will be going back again for sure! “

WERA West Race #4 May 8-9, 2010
It was an awesome Mother’s Day weekend for Andrew Zabzdyr and his family as he got to present his Mom with the WERA West Mini’s 1st place trophy. It was Andrew’s first win on his Honda RS150R and a well deserved win at that.
On Saturday, Andrew was the fastest in the morning practices and by race time he was ready to go. After he stalled the start in Vegas, Andrew was careful on the start and that put him into turn 1 in 3rd behind Jason Aguilar and Ben Truslow. Andrew quickly went to work on Truslow passing him through the Bus Stop and taking chase after Aguilar. Andrew passed Aguilar into turn 1 and began to stretch out the gap. On the last lap Aguilar closed the gap and passed Andrew through Lost Hills. Andrew wasn’t going to give up that easily and looked up the inside of Aguilar through the Sweeper, but thought better of it. Coming through the Esses Andrew got a run on Aguilar and made a diving move up the inside to get the drive onto the front straight. Aguilar got back around, but had to check up to get around a lapper leaving Andrew to cross the line first with a slim margin of .019 seconds and the fastest lap of the race a 2:14.4.
Sunday came and the weather was much cooler with a mild threat of rain. By race time the sky was clear and it was warming up. The start was about the same with Aguilar leading lap 1 with Andrew in tow. On lap 2 Andrew made a flying pass through the Bus Stop, but Aguilar hung on and took the lead back on the brakes into the sweeper. On lap 4 Andrew was all over Aguilar setting him up for the pass and showing him the wheel. With only one turn left Andrew charged through the last turn and onto the straight, but finished just behind Agiular. Andrew’s great performance over the weekend puts him in first for the Saturday championship and tied for third in the Sunday championship.
Andrew would like to thank: Youth Road Racing USA, Next Moto Champion, Scorpion USA, Tayo Motors, Rooster Racing, SaferMoto, Impact Armor, Cycle Gear, Chicken Hawk Racing, Vortex Racing, Spider Grips, The Track Club, Fastrack Riders, Mom & Dad, Paul & Tayo Grasham, Josiah Taulbee, Ivan & Anthony Alonso.

May 1st – 2nd Weekend @ Barber Motor Sports Park, Birmingham Alabama

As rain loomed over head it held off long enough to let a field of 5 talented riders battle it out at Barber. This was the first time for each of these riders to ride this track and learning the track was half the battle. By the end of the second session Brad felt pretty good, a couple adjustments were made to the bike and he was ready for the race. Returning from last weekend was 14yr old Tyler Lee on his 85 2 stroke motard. Along side Brad Boucher and Tyler Lee was Jake Daugherty, Palmer Kling and Luke Baird. The race started off with a tight group but the field quickly spread out as Boucher and Lee picked up right where they left off in Nashville. This time it was Boucher who would lead and Lee who would follow until a lap rider caused Brad to touch the front brake and Tyler Lee passed on the outside to take the lead. With 2 laps to go Brad knocked two seconds off his best practice time of the day to take the lead and the win at Barber. On Sunday it was more of the same but this time Boucher got a great start and lead the entire way to take the Sunday win at Barber as well.

In the WERA Formula 80 class on April 24th in Nashville, Tn riders raced in a Thunderstorm. There was no lighting present which allowed the race to continue but the rain was blinding and riders were competing against each other and mother nature. In a 6 lap race on Saturday Brad Boucher (10yr) and Tyler Lee (14yr) both had great starts but Tyler on his 2 stroke 85 motard got the hole shot and lead Boucher around the track. By lap 3 Brad found his zone and started to catch Tyler, as they cross the start finish line Brad showed Tyler a tire on the inside just to let him know he was there but Tyler continued to lead. In Lap 5 out of 6 Boucher shows Tyler an inside tire again as they go into the final lap of the race; Tyler was still leading. As they come out of the last corner of the last lap Tyler comes down on the curtain to protect the inside line where Brad has been showing him his tire only to see Boucher make a move around the outside and take the win at the finish line. After the race we asked Brad about the finish and he said “I saw Josh Herrin do that to Danny Eslick in the last AMA race and it worked so I thought I would try it.” Congratulations to Brad Boucher on his first WERA win. We also want to congratulate Tyler Lee for a great race on Saturday, Tyler came back on Sunday to take the win so these two riders are 1 for 1. The battle continues at Barber Motorsports park.

On his Honda 150R, Brad Boucher went on to compete in the 250cc class and took first place and $60 for the win against the bigger bikes in this 20 lap solo that was cut short due to oil on the track and bad weather.

M1GP had their 8 Hour Endurance Race 4/24/2010 @ Grange Motor Circuit Apple Valley, CA

This year the 8 Hour Endurance Race took on an international flavor with the return entry of Team Japan who was undefeated in M1GP endurance races, including the last two 8 Hour Endurance Races. It was going to take an exceptional effort to end Team Japan’s dominance of the 50 Stock Class. Eric Anderson, Kenny Anderson’s father, decided to put together a team for this year’s race.
The Poison Dart Frog Racing Team this year was made up of Jason Aguilar, Kenny Anderson, Sean Heeney, and Tracy Schram. Jason Aguilar’s Poison Dart Frog Racing team won last year’s M1GP 4 Hour Endurance Race, and was the Runner Up in the 2008 M1GP 8 Hour Endurance Race. When Eric Anderson asked Jason to join the Team, they decided to continue using the Poison Dart Frog Racing team name. In addition to his prior endurance race experience, Jason Aguilar is the 2007 SCminiGP Blata Cup Champion, 2008 SCminiGP Semi Pro Junior Champion, and 2009 Thumpstar GP Champion. This year, Jason leads the WERA West Formula 80 Championship. Kenny “The Iceman” Anderson is the 2009 Blata Cup Champion, and currently leads the SCminiGP NSR Cup and Mini GP Youth Championships. Sean Heeney, currently leads the SCminiGP Semi Pro Junior, Mini GP, Formula GP, and Overall Championships. These talented kids were joined by experienced racer Tracey Schram from Colorado. Tracy showed his skills last year when he visited a SCminiGP race and left with three podium finishes, taking a 1st in Mini GP Vet, a 2nd in Mini GP, and a 3rd in NSR Cup.

Kenny settled into some good lap times and started to pull away from the competition. Team Japan was battling for 2nd Place with Team Dmented. Kenny came in after 20 minutes and was replaced by Tracy Schram. When making rider changes, the rider who exits the track must ride to the end of Pit Row, turn around, and come back to the pit for the rider change. Tracy reentered the race in 3rd place behind both Team Japan and Team Dmented. Tracy quickly went to work chipping away at the lead, running about 1-2 seconds faster than the competition. By the end of Tracy’s stint, Poison Dart Frog Racing was back in the lead; or so we thought. The Team was informed that Tracy did not signal when he came off the track, and the Team would be penalized a lap for the infraction. Tracy was sure he signaled and went to the officials to protest. Finally after much discussion, it was discovered that the officials had confused Poison Dart Frog Racing’s #12 with the offending team’s #42. While all this was going on Jason Aguilar also removed all doubt by extending the lead to over a lap. Just when it looked like Jason was going to run away with the race, he tucked the front on a left hand turn coming out of “The Carousel” section of turns. Jason was able to keep the bike running, but the shifter had jammed, and he limped into the pits. Since the Team had opted to use 2 bikes, we were able to send Sean Heeney out right away while the damage was repaired and the bike taken to tech inspection. Now Team Japan was on the same lap, but Poison Dart Frog Racing was still in the lead. As the riders continued their second sessions, the times improved and the lead increased. This time, Jason followed Tracy’s 50 minute session with his own 50 minute session the lead had extended to six laps. All of Poison Dart Frog Racing’s riders were now turning faster laps than any other team’s rider. During the third round of rides, Tracy Schram crashed at the “Table Top” turn. Fortunately, no damage was done, and the turn was right at the track exit. Jason went out and did another long session. In the process, Jason lowered his fast lap of the race to a 1:11.06 “I could have gone faster, but with such a big lead, I didn’t want to take any chances” Jason explained. The rookies, Kenny and Sean, were solid all day, turning fast times and flying past the competition without incident.

In the final sessions, the riders decided to shorten the ride times so each rider would have an equal number of sessions. At the end of the 8 Hours, Sean Heeney came across the finish line sealing the win for Poison Dart Frog Racing.

Congrats To Poison Dart Frog Racing and all of the Podium Finishers!

Classes entered: 125 GP USGPRU, Moto3 USGPRU, Moriwaki MD 250H USGPRU
125 GP CCS

Sat. 125 GP USGPRU 20 minute session
I told Kaleb to start out easy and than pick it up as the session went on
Started out with 1.26’s and finished out with a 1.22 flat
Then we where notified that the timming and scoring went down at the 8 minute mark
This grided Kaleb in 19th out of 22

Moto3 USGPRU switched to a 4 lap sprint
Kaleb 4th

Morwaki USGPRU 4 lap sprint
Kaleb 3rd

Sunday. 125 GP USGPRU 9 lap race
Started out 19th was passing 2 to 3 riders a lap
Worked his way up to 8th

Moto3 class
Had an OK start on the RS 125 was running in 6th on the first lap
Kaleb was going into turn 13 for the first time of the race and lost the front end
When the front tire hit the grass the bike started flipping end over end
Kaleb was involved in one cartwheel and was alright
Another rider was down in turn 10 so they red flagged the race
The officials came over and told me that Kaleb was Ok but the bike was in pieces
They also stated that it was going to be a restart so if he wanted to grid in the back
he could race the Moriwaki
Kaleb finally made it back to the pit with the bike on the recovery truck
He had hit is head, his shoulder and leg were tore open on his leathers and his gloves were
wrecked. I asked him if he was ok and his said ya I’m ok but look at the bike. I didn’t mean to do it.
I told Kaleb that the bike can be replaced and that all that matters is that he is ok. I asked him if
he wanted to get in on the restart. He said ya if they will let me.
He gridded up at the back of the field. He rode the first to laps at about 85%. On the third lap the light
went on and he put the hammer down. Finishing 6th

Moriwaki MD 250H USGPRU ( 2 races later )
Kaleb was fourth on the start going into turn 9 it was Stephano, Nick, Peter and Kaleb. Kaleb started around Peter and Nick on
the out side. Peter decided to try Nick on the inside after seeing Kaleb going. Peter could not make the turn and straightened
up, T-boning Nick. They both went down and Kaleb just skated by. The red flag came out. Peter hit his head and left in the medic
to get a CT scan. ( it was anounce later he was ok ) Nick rejoined the feild at the back of the grid. The race was restarted.
Stephano took the lead with Kaleb in 2nd.

125GP CCS ( 2 races later )

Stephano was in first another rider in second and Kaleb in third. Kaleb was on the moriwaki the second place rider was on an
RS 125. On the back staright the RS would pull away. When he would brake Kaleb wouldn’t and he would close back in. In the back
section Kaleb was backing it in and squaring up the corner and taking the inside line away. The anouncer was going nuts. He
stated Kaleb was dirt tracking it in. On the back straight the RS would go back by again and it would start all over. on the
9th and final lap Kaleb railed turn 1 giving him enough cushion on the back straight and the RS could not catch him. He was
about 100 yards in front of the RS at the finish for 2nd.

It was a very expensive week in Florida, but everyone is safe the track was awsome and the people were great. I would recommend
a trip to Jennings if you get the chance.

Thank You to Vinnie DeVita of Pro-Line Race Prep for the help this weekend.

Thank You to all our sponsor for your support in 2010
