Next Moto Champion Sponsered rider Gabriel Da Silva at the FL Supermoto & ESMRA event in Georgia Feb.27 weekend
Gabriel was in Georgia this past weekend and it turned out to be a great weekend for Gabriel. He came in 3rd place in the Mini Moto Heavy Class. It was his first time at the track, with just a two practice session. The race was held by Florida Supermoto combined with ESMRA, a North X South race.
On Sunday, Gabriel had the entire day of classes with Josh Herrin, a Yamaha factory rider and his brother Zach Herrin, a Graves Yamaha rider. It was amazing! He had good quality time there. Their father and owner of the track ( MGKT), Phil Herrin spent the whole day with Gabriel’s father working on new ideas for his bike.
Also, Travis Pastrana’s manager, Ron Meredith, took the time to talk to Gabriel and showed him Pastrana’s new bike.
Next weekend Gabriel will be racing again in Florida
Thanks for your support!

Daytona Anderson at Streets Of Willow with WSMC Race Review

Posted by mboucher | NMC News, NMC Sponsored Riders, Race Results, United States | Wednesday 3 March 2010 9:42 am

WSMC put on a great race weekend 2/20-2/21 at Streets Of Willow, Ca.

Daytona Anderson on his Malcolm Smith Motorsports/Repsol backed Honda RS125 took his first shot at the Streets of Willow with the Willow Springs Motorcycle Club (WSMC) on Sunday February 21st for his second big bike race of the season. With the weather in the low 50s, wind gusts around 30 mph and rain looking imminent it was a challenging first day at the Streets. Daytona started the day off with breaking in the new top end during his first practice session of the day. All appeared to be good with the bike so when Daytona took off for the second practice session he had his sights on running in the low 1’25”s, but with heavy traffic he could only get into the 1’30”s which is way off the pace.

For the first race Daytona was on his Honda RS125 in the 500cc Super Sport class. Daytona got off to a good start rounding turn 2 in 4th place. By turn 3 he had moved up another spot to put himself into 3rd. Working his way into 2nd turned out to be a challenge against the bigger bike, but by lap 3 Daytona was into 2nd and checking out from third place. Daytona crossed the finish line in second place with a 13 second plus advantage on 3rd. At the end of the race it was obvious that Daytona was fired up and ready for a full day of racing.

Daytona had set the stage for a great day of racing with his performance in the first race. Second race up was the 250cc GP class with Daytona on his Honda RS125. Daytona got a great jump from the middle of the grid to put himself all the way up to 4th thru turn 1. Never intimidated, Daytona made an incredible dive to the inside in turn 3 to take 3rd place. By the end of the first lap Daytona had muscled his way into 2nd and set his sights on the leader. Daytona didn’t have the speed to match the leader, but with lap traffic Daytona made incredible passes to close the gap down, but settled for 2nd. With the second race complete and lap times coming down into the low 1’24”s despite the weather, it was obvious Daytona was in the groove.

The 3rd race of the day was the 500cc Modified Production class. A large grid meant there should be a lot of passing going on. Daytona came thru turn 2 in 3rd with one of the big bikes in front of him. It didn’t take but a few turns and Daytona had made short work of the bigger bike. Daytona took second place for the third time in as many races. Apparently the bigger bikes don’t like getting beat by the smaller displacement bikes and they protested the 125 racers. They won their protest and the 125 boys were DQ’d.

The final race of the day was Daytona’s premiere class, that being the 125 GP class. Excited to be racing against the same displacement bikes Daytona knew he had better have his game face on. With another great start Daytona came thru turn 1 in 2nd following close behind the leader. On the second lap the 125 GP racers caught lap traffic from the other classes. Daytona carved his way thru the other bikes and stretched his gap back to 3rd. Daytona never challenged, finished 2nd with an 18 second plus advantage over 3rd place. This was Daytona’s first 125 GP podium of his career, he was very excited.

Austin Gore Texas World Speedway Race Reveiw

Posted by mboucher | CMRA (TX), NMC News, NMC Sponsored Riders, Race Results, United States | Wednesday 3 March 2010 9:26 am

FEBRUARY 19-21            TEXAS WORLD SPEEDWAY

Austin looked very well in practice Friday and we were pleased with his times. Race one on Saturday was Formula 4 on the RS150 and he got a good start. After two laps Austin and Jeff Mendelson had a large gap on the rest of the field and were swapping the lead back and forth and drafting each other down the front straight. I heard the engine sputter on lap four on the straight and Austin went out in turn 9 with a mechanical. Turned out to be a broken intake valve spring. He’ll really have to put his head down to catch up.
Race two was on the Aprilia built by Rheen Racing’s Steve Gaspard. Austin got an excellent start again and led for a lap before being passed on the front straight. This was the first race for the custom bike so the gearing was a toss up which we lost. He ended up third but we expect to do much better next race now that we have a baseline for gearing.
Race three was the E Superstock race on the Ninja 250 . This would be the first sprint for him on the Ninja. He got another decent start and was about forth in turn one. Coming down the front straight it was a very close race for about six bikes. Austin, Joey Howells, Jeff Hughes, and Brandon Altmeyer drafted each other down the front straight the entire race while the leader Ryan Johnson checked out on the rest of the field. I noticed Austin having shifting problems which later turned out to be a problem with the shift lever. At the end of five laps Austin finished a close third.
After the sprints Austin and Joey would ride the Ninja for the Redline Roadracing team owned by Aaron and Bobbie Gore. After two hours of racing and one pit stop for fuel and a rider change the boys finished 7th in Formula 4 endurance. Lots of racing left in the endurance series where consistency is key to winning championships! Overall a good weekend.

2009 Next Moto Champion Runner Up

Kevin Schwantz, Colin Edwards and Ben Spies all came from CMRA. This club breeds champions and you can’t win in this club without going up against some stiff competition. Austin Gore raced an average of 16 riders each race, he came in first 67% of the time in the Formula 4 class. He took home CMRA’s first place Championships in the Formula 4 sprints and Formula 5 endurance.  At 11 years old Austin Gore is one of the top youth road racers in the country and has time he needs to develop into a professional motorcycle racer. We look forward to watching him win in 2010 and Next Moto Champion is proud to name Austin Gore the 2009 Next Moto Champion, Runner up.

Conner Blevins

Posted by Jon Boucher | NMC Sponsored Riders | Tuesday 2 February 2010 8:38 am

2009 Honorable Mention

14 year old Conner Blevins started racing motocross when he was five years old. It wasn’t until he was 10 that he found road racing and decided that he was having more fun on the track than in the dirt. In his first year of road racing, he won a championship and he’s been winning championships ever since. Christopher Corder, President of CMRA says “It’s like this kid doesn’t know what a break is, his corner speed is phenomenal and he never gets off the throttle.” Conner rode an RS 85 for CMRA Endurance races this year while also riding his 125 and 250. Next Moto Champion really focuses on 150cc and under which is where he qualifies for Honorable mention from winning on the RS 85. His biggest accomplishment for the year and an accomplishment that I feel should be recognized across the country is his 2nd place overall finish with CMRA. CMRA is the largest local club level racing organization in the US. Conner had to beat 128 Expert level riders and finished 2nd behind a rider who could race in an extra class, the vet class that Conner could not compete in. Knowing that some of the best riders in the country race with CMRA, you have to recognize this accomplishment as a huge win and realize that your looking at a future world champion.
Conner is supported by: John Hutchinson with South Central Race Center Bridgestone Tires, Wossner Pistons, Arai Helmets, Syed Leathers and Red Rock Fuels. For more info visit www.connerblevins.com

Palmer Kling

Posted by Jon Boucher | NMC Sponsored Riders | Tuesday 2 February 2010 8:07 am

2009 Honorable Mention

Palmer Kling had a great year. He cleaned up at the USMGP race taking the following 1st place Championships: Formula 1, Formula 2, GP 85, Thumper 136 and Thumper 150. Even more impressive, Palmer took the 1st place championship in SEMRA’s Kids Expert class. He’s been in Cycle News, Road Racing world and now “Next Moto Champion” magazine. NMC visited Palmer at Talladega GP in Alabama when he took his RS85 out for the first time on a big track with big bikes. You’re first thought might be that a kid on an 85 2 stroke would be a back marker but not this kid. Palmer worked his way through the pack passing 500 and 600cc machines along the way – Impressive. Palmer will be racing his RS85 with WERA Southeast this year and stop by Middle Georgia Kart Track when he gets a chance. Palmer is supported by Cobra Motorcycles, CobraofAugusta (www.cobraofaugusta.com) , Motul, Scorpion EXO, Chicken Hawk, Vortex, and of course Next Moto Champion See more of Palmer at www.palmerkling.com

Xavier Zayat

Posted by Jon Boucher | NMC Sponsored Riders | Tuesday 2 February 2010 8:00 am

2009 Honorable Mention

At age 4 Xavier began showing interest in motorcycles riding  and racing his PW50 at local dirt tracks. The journey truly began as he threw a leg over a pocket bike and touched the tarmac for the first time 4 years later. He quickly moved up the ranks at local club events and found the definite need for a transmission. In 2008, Xavier raced on all types of bikes from KTM65 motards to the tried and true NSR50. Xavier continues to dominate any class he enters at all the local clubs. Despite heavy competition, he rises to the occasion each and every race.

Big track or small, Xavier has the mental and physical capability to figure out what it takes to get the job done. 2009 was the first year on his current machine, a Honda RS125. Racing WERA and USGPRU, Xavier made his mark and has had a solid offer from an established road racing team for the 2010 season. If there’s one thing you’ll notice about pictures of Xavier, it’s where he is standing. No stranger to first place, Xavier belongs in this sport. It needs him as much as he needs it.

Lucas Chouinard

Posted by Jon Boucher | NMC Sponsored Riders | Tuesday 2 February 2010 7:53 am

2009 Honorable Mention

NJminiGP is where future champions go to race in the Northeast. Lucas Chouinard battled it out with the best and ended up on top. In the first race of the season Lucas came in 5th, not happy with the result this triggered something in him and he finished 1st or 2nd for the rest of the season. Lucas manages each race the same way he managed his season. He shows awareness on the track, knows the situation and manages it to make it his race. He has a switch, and when he throws the switch he wins or gets on the box. This kid is determined, so determined that he took home the NJminiGP 1st Place overall Championship for 2009. His race craft, abilities and determination are the stuff that champions are made of, and the stuff that made him a champion in 2009. Lucas is supported by Motofab, Gollnick Tool Company, Powersports East, and Jeff Harris.

Daytona Anderson

Daytona Anderson: 2009 Honorable Mention

Let’s talk about talent. Daytona Anderson was SCminiGP’s Rookie of the Year in 2008 and in 2009 he took home the number 1 plate and overall championship. Daytona has the ability to take the top spot on the podium in any race he enters. Racing with SCminiGP this year he won a 1st place Championship in the MiniGP class and another 1st place Championship in the MiniGP YOUTH class. He won two additional Championships when he took home the 2nd place trophy in Formula GP and a 3rd place trophy in ProGP. Daytona ended up on the Podium 87% of the time – talk about consistent, nice work Daytona. We were lucky to spend time with Daytona during the filming of Next Moto Champion’s pilot episode and I can tell you that this is the kid you want to represent your brand or product. When he wins, he’s humble, when he doesn’t win he takes a couple minutes to himself and eventually you’ll see him walking over to the winner of the race and extending his hand to congratulate him. He defines sportsmanship and we’re proud to have him represent Next Moto Champion.

Daytona Anderson is supported by: Malcolm Smith Motorsports, Repsol, Suomy Helmets, Vortex, Bridgestone, Barnett Clutches, JD Designs, DeCal Works, Fastrak Riders, CM Motorsports, and SCminiGP. More about Daytona at www.daytonaanderson.com
