Gerloff takes convincing win over Lewis and McFadden in first Rev’It Moriwaki MD250H Powered by Honda race at Indianapolis

USGRPU Press Release:
Gerloff takes convincing win over Lewis and McFadden in first Rev’It Moriwaki MD250H Powered by Honda race at Indianapolis

Indianapolis, IN – 28 Aug 2010: Garrett Gerloff took the lead on the second lap and never looked back, taking a convincing win in the Rev’It Moriwaki MD250H Powered by Honda race on a sunny Saturday afternoon at the 2010 Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix. Starting from pole, Gerloff was beat to turn one by Jake Lewis with Peter Lenz in pursuit. Gerloff went past Lenz and set out after Lewis, who led the first lap. Gerloff went past on lap two and immediately pulled out a lead that grew each lap.

“I was a little worried,” said Gerloff. “Peter got around me after I ran off the track a little bit. I passed Peter and caught back up to Jake, just trying to keep focused. I tried to pull away and not have as much pressure at the end if he was right behind me.”

Jake Lewis tried valiantly to hang with Gerloff, going half a second faster than he had qualified, but to no avail. “I was trying to hang on and pushing it to the limit, but he was just going really good today,” said Lewis. “Halfway through the race I looked back and saw Nick and Peter right there, and I was like ‘Gosh, I didn’t know they were still there!’, so I started pushing even harder. Towards the end of the race, my foot started slipping off the peg and I made some silly mistakes and they caught right up. Nick passed me after the finish, it was close but that was good.”

Nick McFadden was able to go with the lead group at the start, and passed Lenz on lap four. Lenz latched on and pushed McFadden to the end, both riders turning their fastest laps on the last lap as they saw they were closing on Lewis. “I was just trying to catch up after getting a bad start,” McFadden said. “Stefano Mesa passed me going off the back straightaway, and I got separated from him and Peter a pretty good ways. I just put my head down and tried to catch up. After I caught Stefano and got past Peter, I could see we were reeling in Jake. About halfway through the race, Peter showed me a wheel and I just outbroke him and kept my head down.”

Stefano Mesa held on to finish fifth, four seconds ahead of Ryan Matter, who finished four seconds ahead of Joe Roberts in seventh place. Grayson Gerloff won a race-long battle over eighth place ahead of Nick Hansen, Ben Young, Andre Ochs and Austin Medrano, with the five riders nose-to-tail throughout the race.

Canadian racer Milan Jablan’s race report for Parts Canada Superbike Championship

Team Release: CBR125R Rider Jablan’s 2010 Season Report Print E-mail

Milan Jablan Power House Meidl Honda 2010 season Race Report

Race City Motorsport Park
Calgary, AB

Finished:2nd, 7th,5th

When I first got my Honda CBR125 I was very happy to have an opportunity to race on big tracks and to be part of the Parts Canada Superbike Championship. My first ride on big track was great experience. When I got on the podium after my first race it was just amazing to be there. I had lot of fun racing Honda CBR 125 on the Varsity Speed park mini track. I enjoyed riding mini motorcycles with Cody and Loic.

Mosport International Raceway
Mosport, ON

Finished:2nd,5th

I liked Mosport big track it is a very fast and fun track. I liked that Mosport had lot’s of elevation changes. I had so much fun on the mini track there. I was very happy to be on the podium again. Ryan Appenrodt and me had a great battle for the second place. Mosport mini track was my favorite track that I ever ridden on. I really liked racing with Dave Stokovski and Cody Matechuk during AMRA demonstration rides.

Atlantic Motorsport Park
Shubenacadie, NS

Finished:10th, 9th

I liked Shubie a lot. It is very challenging track with lot of elevation changes and tricky corners. It requires lots of concentration and hard work. It would have been better if I did not miss the two practices on Thursday. I did not get enough track time which affected my qualifying and overall results. I am glad that my dad managed to fit this event into his busy work schedule. I wished that Shubie had a mini track we could of raced on. I really liked going to the swimming pool with Cody and Loic after races.

It was great season and I was very happy to be part of the CBR125R Challenge. I am looking forward to race my HONDA CBR 125 next year.

I would like to thank: Honda Canada (Warren, Kim and Eric), Parts Canada, Pirelli, Power House Meidl Honda Saskatoon, Devin and Bodhi Edie,Emil Peev, John Lenz, Lyle Drysdale, Jay Fox, Berna and Erin, Ed Sorbo, Ian McWhriter,Geoff and Sheldon Gerbrandt, Appenrodt’s,SMRA, AMRA and my family.

Putnan Park Race report from Kaleb De Keyrel

Posted by mboucher | NMC News | Tuesday 3 August 2010 3:13 pm
Saturday morning my Dad and I headed off to Putnan park in Indiana. We left with plans to get to the track to watch for about an hour and than get me on the track on my bicycle for some training and to learn the track. We have everything pilled in the van and my dad does not like to stop unless we need gas. Than you better be hungry and need to use the rest room.. So I’m holding it as long as I can till I decide I can’t make it. Rest area here we come. Stop one. We only stop one other time for gas food and you know. We got to the track at 3:45 and watched for 15 minutes and they ended. I asked the guy next to me why they are stopping and he said they are done. Its 5:00. We forgot about the time change. My dad tracked down a guy to see if I could ride the track on my bicycle. They would not let me. We talked to Brent and Fred a little from NESBA and headed to the hotel.
After checking in I hit the pool for some laps. Than it was a walk across the street for Chicago Pizza. A little
X Games and to bed.
We got up early and went to complimentary breakfast at the hotel. It was great fruit, eggs, bagels, bisects and gravy. They ladies got it ready early so we could get going. My dad left them a tip on the table for being so nice and we got stopped three times before we got out of there with everyone thinking we forgot our money on the table. I was kind of funny.
At the track Nesba had a track walk. It took an hour and a half to go over lines. My dad used the time to get everything ready. We parked next to the Ohlin’s guy. He came over to talk and introduced himself. I was Robert Jensen. I had watched him race at BIR in MN ( Fast ). The track was really fun. One and two where pretty fast. I road the Moriwaki for the first season and than switched to the RS 125. Brent from NESBA road with me most of the day. Robert came over and started helping us sort out the suspension on the Moriwaki. He wanted to help us get it as close as we could for Indy. We started on the forks trying to sort them out. He would make changes. I would run 2 or 3 laps come in and give him feed back. Than change them again and go back out. We ended up pulling the forks off to check valving. Why Robert did that I hit the track on the RS 125. I don’t get to ride very often, so when I get track time I need to make the most of it. Robert asked my dad if I would ride all day if he did not pull me off. My dad said yes. Robert asked if I was old enough for WERA. My dad told him yes and he love endurance racing if that is what you are thinking. Robert just smiled. We continued to test on the Moriwaki suspension and ran out of time. We did not even get the front forks as good as Robert thought he could get them. He wanted to meet up before Indy to do more testing and offered to come to Indy and Help. My dad told him that, that would be great but we are not able to pay him to come. We are pushing it even going to Indy. Robert gave my dad his card and told him to send him an email and he would see what he could work out. I thanked Robert for all of the help today and we need to get on the road. My dad had to be to work at 6:00 am in the morning. We ran down to thank Fred ( NESBA Director ) and he told me that after the riders meeting that there were 4 guys that did not want me on the track. They thought closing speeds would be to different. Fred said he told them to worry about there riding and Kaleb will worry about his. Than Fred said he went over half way through the day and told the same guys that he talked to me and I said that it was ok to let them keep riding because I was ok with how quick I would close on them in the corners. That was pretty cool. Fred told me I road great and that he had fun watching me. That made me feel good. We told him Thanks and had to hit the road.
We started home and I told my dad I will stay up with you and be your co pilot. About 7:45 I told him I was just going to take a little nap. I woke up when he stopped for gas. I went in to use the rest room and told my dad, I don’t know how you do it. Thank you for all you do. We went back out to the van and I went to sleep. My dad woke me up at home. I think he slept and hour before he had to go to work.
Thank you to Brent, Fred and the NESBA crew for letting me ride. Thank You to Robert Jensen for helping with my suspension. I hope we get to hook up before Indy to finish dialing it in. Thank You to my sponsors for your support. Most of all Thank You to my Mom and Dad for all you guys do. Thank You
