Next Moto Champion Rider Andre Ochs at Buttonwillow Raceway w/ USGPRU

Posted by mboucher | NMC News, NMC Sponsored Riders, Race Results, USGPRU, United States | Thursday 25 March 2010 11:04 am

Next Moto Champion had a few riders out at Buttonwillow, Ca last weekend with the USGPRU Season Opener  March 20-21, 2010

Saturday was practice , and in the afternoon we had our qualifer for the GP125 /Moto3 race,

Andre qualified forth with a time of 1:5755, Fastest qualifer was Lex Hartl with a time of 1:55.799, second was Joe Roberts 1:56492 , third was Bennie Taylor 1:57094

Sunday was race day and the qualifer for the MD250H race, Andre qualified third with a time of 2:00693, Fastest qualifer was Peter Lenz with a time of 1:56940 and Lex was second with a time of 1:57481.

We had a problem with our water temp , when he came in the display read 109c ,  normal is 85 –89c , with the high temp the bike was off on power.

This year they approved the removal of the air box , with inspection tare downs this will save a lot of time , so I tried it, but it makes the bike run very hot , so we put it back on , problem solved.

Peter Lenz

First race of the day for us was the GP125 race, Andre got a OK start, fifth into turn one , on lap three he passed Bennie Taylor , on lap four Bennie passed him back, they stayed very close until lap six where they got into lappers , Andre lost Bennies rear wheel , and it was to late to get

Tyler Linders

 him back.

Andre finished fifth, fastest lap 1:58324 , Joe Roberts 1st , Hartl 2nd , Lenz 3rd

Second race of the day was the MD250H race, Andre got a great start , but in turn two on the first lap,Andre and Peter Lenz got together  and both went down!

They had a complete restart , again it was Peter and Andre out front, but about half way into the first lap Andre started dropping back and then pulled in, as he had a lose front faring mount due to the crash and his rear brake pedal was bent.

Ok last race of the day was the Moto 3 race, Andre got a  fair start,  fourth out of turn one, but in turn two Joe Roberts hit Peter Lenz from behind and he and the bike went flying in the air, so there was a red flag, Joe did not restart as he went to the Hospital for Xrays.

On the second restart there was another crash on turn two , this time it was Michael Aquino , Michael did not restart the last start , Andre held on to Peter and Bennie and finshed in 3rd.

Great Job Andre! Thanks for the full report.

Austin Gore at Eagles Canyon CMRA Round 2

Posted by mboucher | CMRA (TX), NMC News, NMC Sponsored Riders, Race Results, United States | Thursday 25 March 2010 10:35 am

Next Moto Champion Rider Austin Gore at the CMRA  Eagles Canyon Raceway March 12-14

Friday practice went well until the last session of the day. Austin had been practicing all day on his Ninja so we could save the motor on the Honda. The last session of the day I turned him loose on the RS and he immediately went four seconds faster than on the Ninja. I watched him go out of sight on the back section and when he came off the back straight and into the chicane he was attempting to go around the outside of a street rider  when the rider just sat straight up knocking Austin from his bike which ghost rode into the guard rail thus eliminating it from racing for the weekend.

Race one was the Formula 4 race which he had to ride on the Ninja. He started from the fifth row because of the DNF at TWS. After the green flag going into turn one it looked like he was fifth or sixth when he went out of sight. Coming back into after turn three sight he was in the lead after passing everyone on the brakes. Hunter Morgan passed him in the back section and they checked out on the rest of the group with Austin finishing second after a great race by Hunter!
Race four was the E Superstock race on the Ninja’s with 9 riders on the grid. Austin started from the front row and was in the lead after the green flag. Austin and Ryan Johnson checked out after three laps and battled each other until the checker. Ryan passed Austin in turn one on the last lap and led him until they went out of sight. Coming back into view Austin was in the lead after passing Ryan in turn 6 on the brakes. Austin built a 2 second gap finishing on the top of the podium after running the fastest lap time for the minis that day of 2:14.9

Thanks Austin for the report and Congrats on your podium finish!

Palmer Kling At The SEMRA Season Opener

Posted by mboucher | NMC News, NMC Sponsored Riders, Race Results, SEMRA | Friday 12 March 2010 10:20 am

The SouthEastern Mini Roadracing Association season opener was held on a beautiful weekend in central Florida at the European Rally School in Starke. The weather was perfect all weekend, and so was Palmer Kling.  The Next Moto Champion, Cobra of Augusta, sponsored rider showed his determination early as he set pole position in all four of his classes, and then went out and won every one of them.

In the Formula 2 Class, Palmer got into the first turn in fourth place.  He was content to let the field get settled and waited until the third lap to start making his move.  Coming out of turn two he was able to capitalize on a mistake by the third place rider and quickly make the pass.  In the next two laps Palmer picked off the other leaders one by one, and, by the end of the 4th lap, he took the lead.  After that he put his head down and took the checkered flag with a comfortable margin.

In both the GP 85 and Kids Expert classes, Palmer got the hole shot and never looked back, winning each race by over half a lap.

In the Spec bike race, Palmer got into the first turn in 2nd place, and then quickly worked his way into the lead by the 2nd lap.  After that he hit cruise control and built up a sizeable lead on the rest of the field.

Excited to be representing the Cobra Motorcycle factory again for 2010, Kling also wanted to show his other sponsors that they have made a good investment.  Palmer is very proud to be representing Cobra of Augusta, Motul USA, Pit Bull Racing Products, Vortex Sprockets, Chicken Hawk Racing, Safer Moto, and Scorpion EXO for the 2010 season.

His next race will be March 21st at the Palmetto Super Track Summer Series, then round two of the SEMRA series in April.  You can find more information at www.PalmerKling.com
