Jason Aguilar’s rough start to the SCminiGP season but still grabs a 2nd place finish.

Posted by Jon Boucher | NMC News | Tuesday 23 February 2010 12:23 pm

In the 1st ProGP race of the season Jason Aguilar loses the front and goes sliding off the track. This was a disappointing start to the season, and the end of a long streak. Going back to August 2008, Jason had not had a DNF. It was only his 2nd DNF at a SCminiGP race going back to October 2006, his first time ever on a motorcycle. Team Aguilar got to work on the bike to see if it could be repaired enough to run the Pro Extreme final. With help from Paul Grasham, they were able to bend the rear set enough to get it out of the way of the suspension. Jason would make the final race.

Once again, Jason was not able to get a good start and dropped to 3rd place. Jason stuck a nice pass going into the first corner to move into 2nd place. However, Jason could not catch Aaron Villasenor to battle for the win and finished the race in 2nd Place. This marked the end of another long streak. This was the first SCminiGP weekend that Jason did not have a win since July 2008. Hopefully, Jason can return to the top of the podium soon, and start a new streak.

Thanks again to all of Jason’s sponsors:Outlaw Racing, Motorex,Fulmer Helmets,Vortex Racing, Wiseco Pistons,Galfer,Morris Chiropractic, Impact Safe-T Armor, Cycle Gear,Fuel Clothing, UNI Filters, Mesa Hose, Josh Bartnik Suspension, Hypercycle, AXO, Osiris. Thanks to Mookie Wilkerson and Paul Grasham

Safer Moto Vest Put To The Test

Posted by mboucher | NMC News, Product Review | Monday 22 February 2010 6:45 pm

Andrew Zabzdyr Next Moto Champion Sponsered Rider Puts The Vest To The Test, hear what his dad had to say;

So we field tested the SaferMoto vest this weekend and I can say that we were very happy with the results.

We had rain Saturday night so the first practice session on Sunday morning was wet. Being from California we don’t get much wet weather practice so early on in the first session Andrew grabbed a little too much brakes and lowsided his 50. He was fine and so was the bike, albeit with a bunch of grass and mud on it. The vest deployed as expected and Andrew was fine with NO injuries or pain.  Being the first crash I had to quickly figure out how to put it back together. Great instructions which turned out to be a couple minute fix.Later in the day on his 65, Andrew hit a bad bump while on the gas and caught an unexpected wheelie in the esses. He couldn’t make the second turn and when he got the front wheel on the ground he grabbed a handful of front brakes and did a stoppie, which eventually tossed him over the bars landing on a haybale. I didn’t see it, but by the time I got to him he was walking the bike. He was perfectly fine with no injuries. I was amazed. This for sure should have caused some type of injury, but the vest did the trick. Andrew did mention that he needed to unzip it quickly once he realized he was ok as it squeezed him when it deployed, but it was no big deal and I think that just ensures it is staying in place and working properly.

My wife and I are sold on the SaferMoto vest.

WERA and M1GP Partner to offer racers a path to Victory

Posted by mboucher | Announcement, NMC News, WERA | Monday 22 February 2010 3:02 pm

For Immediate Release

WERA Motorcycle Roadracing, Inc. and M1GP understand the importance of mini road racing and are uniting efforts to shed light and educate people on the importance of motorcycle road racing at the mini level and how this sets a strong foundation for riders to go racing on full sized machines.

The relationship will prove to be beneficial to riders in each association as they will get a 50% discount on the license fee for each others events. Also, since both clubs use the AMB MYLAPS timing system with the TranX260 transponders so those racing in either club will find easy compatibility.

As racers gain experience on the small technical tracks used by M1GP racers, i.e. Willow Springs Kart Track and Grange Motor Circuit) they can gain experience to deal with the larger, high speed circuits used by WERA Motorcycle Roadracing.

“M1GP is proud of our association with WERA, with their long history and compatible values, goals (and rules). We will have a presence at as many Pirelli/WERA West Sportsman races presented by Lucas Oil as possible and will make efforts to build career racers to seamlessly enter WERA Motorcycle Roadracing and also offer WERA Motorcycle Roadracing riders the opportunity to race on very tight and technical courses with M1GP. We are excited to build this relationship to benefit the racers and the sport as a whole,” said Young Lee – Race Director at M1GP.

WERA Motorcycle Roadracing has always tried to provide the means for a young rider to live and achieve their dream. WERA tries to have a class for everyone and we run our Mini program at the tracks where feasible and we look forward to having a relationship with M1GP to further the education of motorcycle road racing starting at the entry level and moving on to a Sportsman Series and then a Pro-Am National Series for any young rider who is interested, “ said Evelyne Clarke, President of WERA Motorcycle Roadracing, Inc.

For further information contact WERA at (770) 720-5010 ww.wera.com or M1GP at www.m1gp.us.

Kennny Anderson with SCMiniGP starts off the 2010 Season with a bang

Posted by mboucher | NMC News | Monday 22 February 2010 7:17 am

Hard work and dedication are what define Kenny “The Iceman” Anderson. At only 9 years of age, he has already won multiple championships and knows what it takes to be successful. In 2009, he raced pocket bikes in the SCMiniGP, SMRRC, and Polini Cup series, taking home a championship in each. In 2010 he will race as both a Blata sponsored rider and a Polini sponsored rider. Clearly possessing a degree of natural talent, he nevertheless credits his success to the meticulous training he continues to receive from the coaches at the California Superbike School, where form and technique are paramount. He trains almost every weekend, and has an unmatched love and passion for the sport.

In the off-season Kenny moved up to the Honda NSR 50. He came to the SCMiniGP season opener at Adams Motorsports Park with modest expectations, but amazed everyone with wins in both the NSR Cup and the MiniGP Youth classes. 2010 will prove to be a pivotal year for him, as he continues to develop his skills and moves on to 65cc and 85cc machines. When asked why he works so hard, Kenny sums it up in one sentence, “I love to go fast!”. That is somethng that his sponsors EA MOtorsports, California Superbike School, PMT Race Tires, and Cycle Gear love to hear.

Tank Tredz Product Review

Tank Tredz Product Review by Brad Boucher NMC Sponsered Rider

Feb.20, 2010 at Texas World Motor Speedway was the first race I had Tank Tredz on my bike and I really like the way the grip felt. My tank was less slick and gave me a little more confidence going into the turns. I liked the transparent stickers because it didn’t affect the way my bike looked. I would recommend this product to anyone on a motorcycle.
