Posted by MiniGPX Archives | MiniGPX-NEWS | Tuesday 30 June 2009 3:16 am

We are happy to announce that Michigan now has a free standing Mini Motorcycle sprint series promoted by MIMRA at Palmyra Speedway. MIMRA has typical Mini classes that conform to most other mini club rules, and classification. Sprints are held on Saturdays with the exception of one Sunday event. Sprints consist of two 14 lap heat races, and a 20 lap main event. Cost is $15 per rider plus $10 pit pass. The two hour endurance event will be held at Jackson Speedway June 14th a Sunday, cost is $40 per team and $5 gate fee per person.

Finally a real race track for BC

July 5th Race Date

PCMRRA is proud to present racing at the Greg Moore facility in Chilliwack. Please check out: ~http://

www.westcoastkartclub.com~

This event is the result of efforts by many people, however it was finalized within the club by Bruce Aylen. Lots of help from several others both within the club, as well as interested parties from outside finalized this deal. Thank you everyone!

This new facility availability arrives at a critical time for the club. It is obvious to everyone who has attended the events so far this year that participant numbers are down significantly from historical highs. We MUST find some way to re-vitalize the club, and perhaps this is one way to that goal. Please consider coming to this event even if it is the only event you come to this year.

Several club members have tested at the facility earlier this year, and it is an

AWESOME race track. Anticipate significantly quicker morning set-up, as the track is already there. Gate opens by 8:00, sign up opens as soon as possible after that time.

There will be tech, but for this event it will be cursory. However: No catch bottle û no race. Fuel spilled on the track is the quickest way to us not being invited back. As noted in our current race rules all levers must have ball ends, all handlebars must have sliders. There is a sound check, all bikes tested under the maximum Db (including my obnoxiously loud 50 mod) on test day, but we would prefer that bikes have well packed mufflers. We will discuss axle sliders during the riders meeting, which should be completed by 10:00. Please bring a fire extinguisher.

Track opens for practice no later than 10:00. Gearing will be close to what we run at Tradex, however the front straight is quite long, if you have a sprocket with a tooth or two less for the back, bring it.

This date offers the ability to get your bike “rightest” for the National that will happen at this facility on August the 8-9. One week after the Quesnel national we will have our race. Camping will be available at the track Friday and Saturday nights.

Fees for this race should still be ~$80, based on turn out. There will be a reduction in membership fees for those club members who have not yet signed up this year. Instead of the $60 fee being charged for the whole year, we will be offering a $35 pro-rated fee. CMA is still $65.

Hope to see you ALL there (this means YOU!!)

Open letter from M1GP to MiniGP community

Posted by MiniGPX Archives | M1GP, MiniGPX-NEWS | Wednesday 24 June 2009 3:46 pm

Dear Racing Community,

A lot has happened within the last year in mini road racing.

Last year this time, M1GP was just a track day company gearing up for our booth at Laguna Seca MotoGP to both promote CMRRA and our new company. We already had the 1st 8 Hours at Grange (8H1) under our belt and were ready to get started with the a fairly simple, but somewhat novel concept – a track day company for mini road racers and folks who wanted the many benefits of riding at the track but without the cost and risk of doing so on “big bikes” (600cc – 1000cc sportbikes) – the typical machines of conventional track day companies.

The idea was niche enough where it could work and also bring new riders to CMRRA. For its first year, M1GP proved that there was interest and a market for the concept, I met some great people and had great (and not so great) experiences.

Since then:

M1GP has had several successful track days introducing the world of mini bikes and mini-road racing to many new riders and racers.

held the first annual 8 Hours at Grange (8H1) with CMRRA

had a very special training weekend with our guests from the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club (BMRC) which ended with the participating in a special CMRRA race.

the economy tanked

The Redbull Rookie’s Cup program has been discontinued here in the U.S.

M1GP reformed

CMRRA closed it’s doors after 16 years

M1GP continues with the race series with blessing of CMRRA

2 races of M1GP races have been held (the 2nd being the CMRRA / Al and Sheri Lyons Appreciation Day

So, that brings things pretty much to the present…

I’ve learned a lot since M1GP first started and realize I still have MUCH to learn as promoter/director. It’s a period of stress and transition both racing related and otherwise. I’m very grateful to have good friends and associates who have been supportive by sharing their passion, their knowledge and who realize the importance of motorcycle racing at this level.

Honestly, being a “race director” isn’t even something I was aiming to do, but circumstances and my desire to help keep the club going, landed me here.

I am, or maybe more accurately, was a racer who had some ideas to help promote the club. But on for the ride and will do my best to put in a good lap or two. I realize I have a responsibility to the racers and this great sport and will do my very best to make the M1GP Racing Association an outstanding club. I know the skeptics and naysayers are out there and that not everyone will be pleased with every decision, however I ask for your patience and your continued support. As you know, with YOU attending as many races as possible, it adds to the grid and the excitment of the racing and will keep people coming back and the club alive.

I’ve already written more than a lot of you want to read. If you’ve read this far, thanks (they won’t always be this long).

Many thanks,

Young
