13 Year Old Bodhi Edie Going to the Parts Canada CBR125R Challenge!
Bodhi Edie (Warman, SK) will be competing in the 2009 CBR125R Challenge at all rounds of the Parts Canada Superbike Championship this upcoming season, with support from Honda Canada, TK Racing, and the Canadian National Mini Roadracing Associations (CNMRA)
Bodhi has spent the past three summers competing in the CNMRA series, a six round series which stops at two tracks each in SK, AB, and BC. When the 2008 points were tallied, Bodhi successfully defended his 2007 CNMRA championship in the Spec Supersport class, and added the Formula GP, Formula Under 21 and Spec Under 21 class titles to his collection.
Bodhi follows in the footsteps of many mini roadracing stars that have made the jump up to the Parts Canada Superbike Championship, such as his home club’s own Brett McCormick, as well as Chris Peris, John Ross McRae, Cody Matechuk and Royce McLean.
Starting out at the age of five in motocross, Bodhi took to roadracing with the Saskatchewan Mini Roadracing Club (SMRA) at the age of eight. His home track is Martensville Speedway, located north of Saskatoon, and he cut his teeth with the support and mentorship of all of the western Canadian mini roadracing clubs and the Alberta Mini Roadracing Association (AMRA) in particular.
“It’s pretty exciting to have this opportunity to race in the CBR125R Challenge,” says Edie, who credits his mini roadracing mentors in western Canada with helping him learn to race fast, close, and smart. “Bodhi is a multi-title winning mini roadracer, and we’re really pleased to be able to support his 2009 racing efforts at the next level,” says Jay Fox, AMRA President, “and to prove once again that mini roadracing is a the ideal training ground for the development of the skills required to compete on bigger bikes at higher speeds”.
Thanks go out to Honda Canada, AMRA and PMP for providing Bodhi’s race-prepped CBR125R, and to Brett McCormick’s TK Racing and the CNMRA for additional racing gear and travel support.
