American Peter Lenz cleans up in Canada
Young American motorcycle road racer, Peter Lenz, couldn’t ask for more after his stellar results this weekend’s joint Canadian National (CNMRA), Can-Am Championship (CAMRC) races held in Abottsford, British Columbia. During Sunday’s main events Peter won all his races but one, in which he finished second after starting from the back row.
A big thank you to racers Josh Galster, Justin Watkins and Jake Holden for relaying Peter’s RSF150R home from California in time for Eric Dorn and EDR Performance to do a tune-up before the race weekend. Another big thank you to Barry Wressell of KFG for his late Friday evening work rebuilding the two forks with completely blown seals. Without the help of these guys this weekend would not have happened the way it did.
Saturday practice and qualifying heats were not without incident. Peter’s Honda NSR50 made a very unhealthy noise during qualifying and was parked. Race Director, Brian Ens, offered his personal NSR to Peter to allow him to continue the weekend. And while leading the Under-21 Formula GP qualifier, Peter was hit by another rider sending his RSF150R to the tarmac, resulting in Peter qualifying dead last.
Peter came out swinging in Sunday’s morning practice and there was no doubt that he had his game face on and was ready to race.
Peter and his competitors put on a good series of races throughout the day. Through all the action Peter was able to win the Spec Supersport, Formula Thunder, Under-21 Spec Supersport, and Formula GP races. And even though he started on the last row, Peter was able to make his way through traffic to finish on the rear wheel of Bodie Edie in the hard fought Under-21 Formula GP race.
“I enjoyed the Formula Thunder class the most, it was the first time that I had ever raced with my dad,” commented Peter.
“The track was pretty tight and narrow, I was able to keep Peter behind me for a couple corners and finished 2nd and 3rd in the motos,” said Peter’s father, Michael Lenz.
“(Laughs) You forgot to mention I was lapping you, Dad. I would have passed you sooner, but wanted to wheelie past you on the exit,” smiled Peter as he gave his father a hug.
Additionally Peter won all four of the concurrently run Can-Am Motorcycle Racing Championship classes; Vortex Racing NSR Cup, Motion Pro Super 50, Sudco and RK Excel America (co-sponsored) Formula Extreme, and the Pro Honda Oils & Chemicals Formula GP. Peter also leads all four CAMRC classes in the overall championship points.
All told, the weekend would be memorable for a number of reasons. This was the last planned trip to Canada for racing as Peter shifts his focus towards GP bikes stateside, but in particular because of that “race” with his dad.
Peter will be in action again August 8-10th with the CMRRA at the Streets of Willow Springs.
Peter Lenz is supported by his Mom and Dad, California Superbike School, Arai Helmets, EDR Performance, Pro Honda Oils & Chemicals, FNB Racing, Vortex Racing, Performance Under Gear (PUG), Pro Caliber Motorsports, RK Racing Chains, Spiegler Brake Lines, MiniGPX.com, PMP, Miller Paint and Graphics, Motion Pro, Barnett Clutches, SBS Brake Pads, Spider Grips, Chicken Hawk Racing, All Things Drywall, and KFG / GP North.

SEMRA racer looking for a bit of help
Former SEMRA racer needs your help. Jake Morman competed in SEMRA for 2 years before he moved up to a RS125 in WERA. Jake was accepted in to the 2008 American Red Bull Rookies cup. The family still tries to take time to race in SEMRA when he is not on the AMA tour riding his KTM125 or racing his Honda RS125 in WERA.
Jake’s family is asking for your financial help to get through the next month. Jake is racing 3 race weekends in a row starting with Mid-Ohio, then traveling to VIR, and finally ending up at Roat Atlanta. Jake is truly a good kid that loves his mini family and racing in SEMRA. I ask that you make a donation to Jake’s dream of becoming a professional racer.
All this started with a kid on a Honda CRF50 at a local kart track. You can show your support by donating to Jake’s racing by sending any amount of money to his paypal account, jakemorman@aol.com Thanks for your time.

UPDATED: PCMRRA previews this weekend’s Canadian National round
Hello all Racers,
Sorry for the late posting of information for the Abbotsford Round #3 Canadian National Event / Can-Am Event July 26th & 27th at Tradex, 1190 Cornell Street, Abbotsford, BC V2T 6H5.
For those of you who have not had the pleasure of racing here previously, check: ~http://www.fvtradex.com~ for full directions to the track. Google Earth co-ordinates: 49deg.01′26.00, 122deg.23′00.00. Gearing is generally the same as Quesnel.
Schedule is posted here: ~/files/2008-abbotsford.pdf~
Track set-up will take place on Friday night at 7pm. All welcome to show up and give a hand. There will be registration Friday night while track set up is going on and also on Saturday and Sunday morning as required. For those who register on Friday night, practice starts at 8:00am Saturday.
Camping at the track is available. Significant additional costs for security etc. are a concern; we need to know numbers soonest. Please contact Brian with your anticipated group size. There will be clean, indoor, flushing bathrooms available on Saturday night (possibly Friday night as well), as well as all day Sat. and Sun. Anticipate an enjoyable (if slightly noisy) evening of festivities on Sat. evening û Quiet camping is at the north end of the parking lot.
There will be a lot of track time, and the track layout will be a more flowing, faster track than in past years. The track will be delineated by our traditional boards/pylons; as well we may use flour and rubbera The track will be very similar to our last set-up – clockwise û with enough flow for the 125gp bikes (which have been tested on this lay-out), and enough technical sections for the pocket bikes (which may run on a shortened track) which have also been tested on this track.
The cost for the weekend of racing/camping is as follows: to start $150.00 per person, with a family rate to be determined by the number of entries for the weekend. We must cover out costs for the weekend ($$$), however if attendance is greater than anticipated, a partial refund may occur on Sunday evening.
First aid is on site for the weekend as well. If you have any questions email wmrc@shaw.ca or call Brian 604-835-9403.
Looking forward to a GREAT weekend of racing! See you there.
