Boz Bros hats are made to fit even an underaged head

Posted by MiniGPX Archives | MiniGPX-NEWS | Saturday 29 December 2007 5:04 pm

The Boz Bros apparel line has is roots in Ben and Eric’s childhood: Dad was a California State dirt track champ, and his racing buddies were heroes of their time, top competitors in a field that produced On Any Sunday-type legends. Growing up under that kind of talent not only honed Ben and Eric’s riding skills, but also fostered a respect for the history of racingùand for the grace of the sport itselfùthat never faded, and which is evident today in their line of men’s and women’s apparel featuring vintage-racing-inspired designs. Where others may see only the aesthetic of vintage cool, however, Ben and Eric see the uncut essence of what makes motorcycles, riding, and racing worth living for.

Boz Bros trucker hats are loaded with detailsùfrom distress frays to embroideryùand topped off with a silver finishing pin. Each hat features scenes from the brothers’ past (hence model names like “Uncle Paul”) and are available in ten different color and photo combinations; $30.

Boz Bros Cycle Center beanies are likewise a solid part of the family, also featuring detailed embroidery and finishing pins of their own. Available in two solid colors and two color combinations; $20.

WERA sticks with 85cc

Posted by MiniGPX Archives | MiniGPX-NEWS, WERA | Saturday 29 December 2007 3:44 pm

We got an email this morning from Tryce with FastForward Racing. It was pretty short but covers the bases in regard to the proposed rule change that would have allowed 105cc 2-strokes to run against the current stock of 85cc 2-strokes and 150cc 4-strokes.

WERA has decided to remain at 85cc. Tryce”

As other clubs drop pocketbikes, the AMRA hosts the GRCmoto Canadian Cup

Posted by MiniGPX Archives | AMRA, Canada, MiniGPX-NEWS, Pocketbike | Thursday 27 December 2007 1:37 am

The AMRA and the AMRA Minimoto Lites are hosting, the GRCmoto Canadian Cup.

We are going to start the 2008 Minimoto season off with a Bang; with an event set up to put our sport on the map.

This event will run next to the Parts Canada Super Bike National and in conjunction with but separate to the AMRA National Round #2 on the weekend of June 27-29, 2008 at the Varsity Speed Park in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

We hope with all of your support we can show people just how great this sport really is.

How do we do that you just might ask? Easily, make it a huge event with everyone in attendance! How do we do that? We do that by making it an event you just won’t want to miss! Every registered rider will not only enjoy some fierce Minimoto competition but they will also get the chance to leave this event with a brand new GRC Moto RR 15hp Race bike or a Gimoto custom built pocket bike suit and tons of other giveaways. Yes you read that right! A brand new GRC RR 15hp Race bike or a Gimoto custom built pocket bike suit and tones of other giveaways. Told you that you weren’t going to want to miss this one!

We will be running the following classes:

  1. 2.5 Air Cooled Open – This class is strictly for 2.5 rated bikes, otherwise known as cags. But includes European 2.5

  2. Air Cooled Open – This class allows the use of 2.5 / 4.2 / 6.2 / up to 50cc, and of pocket bike origin.
  3. 14/40 Open – For those wearing a 14mm carb on a 40cc to push the racer to the limit.
  4. 40cc Open – This is where the racers are going to have to push their bikes to their limits.
  5. 50cc Open – This is where it’s going to be up to the tires to keep the push of the racer in check.

There will be free on-site camping all weekend, CMA Membership is required and is available at the event. The track layout can be viewed at ~http://www.amra.ca~. Pricing and race day schedules will follow shortly.

Another pocketbiker makes it his living … Chaz Davies

Posted by MiniGPX Archives | MiniGPX-NEWS, Opinion | Wednesday 26 December 2007 3:24 am

While most riders that are currently in the AMA pro ranks started either on dirt or dirt, their are a couple that came from something smaller. Most notably is British transplant Chaz Davies, now riding for Attack Kawasaki. In a recent interview on the nationally syndicated Pit Pass Moto Racing Weekly radio show, Davies gave a brief history of his motorcycle upbringing. He explained to the hosts that he started on minimoto bikes, which was explained as bikes much smaller than a YSR.

With riders like Haga, Rossi, and now Davies showing the value of these two wheeled toys, this line of questioning may repeat itself a few times over. Especially as the first wave of American pocketbike racers grow into real bikes.

NMRRA releases 2008 schedule, returns to Pat’s Acres (no US National conflict)

Posted by MiniGPX Archives | MiniGP, MiniGPX-NEWS, Motard, NMRRA, Pocketbike | Saturday 22 December 2007 3:07 am

The NW Mini (NMRRA) 2008 race schedule has been posted at ~http://www.nwmini.net~. The schedule will hopefully be expanded as more dates become available.

New in 2008 will be races hosted at Pat’s Acres aka PARC, currently one date has been scheduled with hopefully more to follow. Our website has also been updated to include the Pat’s Acres track information, including a picture of the track layout.

PARC is a little more remote and has fewer luxuries for those coming in from out of town – however the track itself is excellent and I can assure you will want to come back for more. Shopping is not close in so you will want to land at the track prepared. There are not any hot showers for those camping over night, however it is located in a beautiful tranquil setting so your stink won’t offend much!

At this point the fee structure remains unchanged, however that may change at the next PKA board meeting.

April 26-27 – MAC

May 3-4 – PARC

May 24-25 – MAC

Aug 30-31 – MAC

Sep 13-14 – MAC

OMRRA modifies 85GP class rules

Posted by MiniGPX Archives | MiniGP, MiniGPX-NEWS, OMRRA | Saturday 22 December 2007 1:05 am

The OMRRA board met Thursday night to review modifications to the rulebook appendix. The 85GP class is an appendix to the rulebook therefore any rule changes to the class don’t go to the general membership for voting, they go before the board for adjustment and voting.

The result of the review is summarized as this:

- 2-stroke engine displacement has been increased to 93cc.

- 4-stroke 150cc water cooled engines are now allowed.

- Chassis restriction has been removed.

- Zero rise clip-ons must be used regardless of chassis (no MX handlebars).

Specific wording for the class definition change has yet to be posted.

Overall this brings OMRRA into alignment with the majority of other 85GP classes run in the US and Canada.

Outstanding is the rule proposal brought by the general membership to restrict riders under the age of 12 to the 85GP and Pocketbike classes. Age is part of the primary rulebook (not an appendix) so this change is still out to the general membership for vote. Ironic considering that OMRRA was the club that issued then 11-year old racer Elena Myers her expert license while riding a 125cc GP bike when other clubs wouldn’t have anything to do with her due to her age. Myers went on to win her first races with OMRRA.

Brian Ens KX85 12″ partially lost in translation

Posted by MiniGPX Archives | Canada, MiniGPX-NEWS, Motard, PCMRC | Monday 17 December 2007 4:30 pm

Brian Ens sports the “Tim Hortons” look on his Kawasaki KX85 with a 12 inch wheel upgrade. Accompanying the 12’s is a big brake setup with EBC oversized rotors and adapter running on Dunlops. If fun is what your looking for, this should be the correct package for it. Sitting on the 12 inch Donlup donuts, the Kawasaki mini motard has been dubbed the “Tim Hortons” bike.
